Artemis I ✓
Uncrewed test flight. SLS launched Orion on a 25-day mission around the Moon and back. Splashdown December 11, 2022. All objectives met.
September 2025
Artemis II ← Next
First crewed flight. Four astronauts will fly around the Moon without landing. Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialists Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen (CSA).
2026 (Target)
Artemis III
First crewed Moon landing since 1972. Two astronauts will land near the lunar south pole using SpaceX's Starship Human Landing System. First woman on the Moon.
2028 (Target)
Artemis IV
First mission to dock with the Lunar Gateway space station. Crew will live aboard Gateway and conduct surface operations with enhanced mobility.
2029-2030
Artemis V & VI
Sustained lunar presence. Extended surface stays, lunar rover deployment, and science experiments. Building towards a permanent Artemis Base Camp.
2030s
Moon to Mars
The Artemis program is the stepping stone. Technologies tested on the Moon will enable the first human missions to Mars in the 2030s.
